Best Leather Leggings Guide: Alternatives to Spanx

If you don’t have a pair of faux leather leggings by now…..it’s time! There’s the ever so popular Spanx leather leggings, but I’m here to introduce you into some other contenders. The Spanx leggings may be super comfortable, but there are other options out there that are shiner and look more polished.

Ultimate, #1 Allstar Leather Legging:

Artizia Wilfred Free Daria Legging

These are the pair I wear in every single picture you see of me in leather leggings. This is the only pair I own, and wear them every time. They are a luxury vegan leather, the perfect amount of shine to make them look real, soft and buttery, high waist, AND suck you in. They are a little tight / not as comfortable as the Spanx, but more dressed up and luxe looking.

Best Casual Legging:

Leather Leggings Aerie Gleam Shine Tights

Aerie

These are by far the most affordable for the pair that looks closest to the Spanx! High waisted adn super comfortable because they were designed to be a workout legging. The gleam / leather is minimal shine, and more casual with sweatshirts and everyday looks. Not really a pair to wear for a night out.

Best Comfort

Athleta All Over Gleam Tight

I technically don’t own these, but have felt in person and tried them on. I got them for my Mom for Christmas and she loves them! She is the queen of wearing comfort only, and they pass her test! Run a little large, so if you’re in between sizes go down. They are on sale right now too!

Best Deal

Target’s Wild Fable Faux Leather High Rise

Can you beat $18 faux leather leggings? NOPE. Didn’t think so. Look no further than Target with ease $16 leggings with 4.5 stars and 195 reviews! Woohoo! Tons of customer photos as well and the leggings look legit.

Most Popular

Spanx Faux Leather Legging

I don’t really know if this would be a complete list without mentioning Spanx. Definitely the most comfortable and everyday leather, however it is lacking the shine the other leggings offer. What’s cool about Spanx though, is they offer a few different patterns and colors. Why not try something bolder, like the faux Moto leggings, snakeskin, camo, or ones with the white stripe down the side? The patterns and colors (like grey, olive, wine, and navy) are on sale right now too!

Spanx Alternative

Carbon38 Leggings

These look the most similar to the Spanx pair but a little more shiny. They won’t be as “suck in” as the Spanx since they were designed for a more workout legging.  They make both high waist and regular.

Shiny / Night Out

Express

Express has a few styles that are shinier than the Spanx leggings. They are definitely better for styling to wear out with a suede jacket.

The Shiniest Pair

Heroine Sport

If you are looking for mega shine, these are by far the shiniest but not pleather looking.

Pants Style

Abercrombie Paper Bag Leather Pants

If you are looking for a “looser” look and more pants based than leggings, these high waisted paper bag pair fit the bill!

Snakeskin / Quilted / Moto

If you are looking for something with a little more edge, a patterned legging adds great dimension to an outfit!
