Tailored Pants #WorkWear

Pants rule the office. In all practicality, the blasting A/C in corporate offices makes it impossible to wear anything but. Some days you may need to wear your outerwear jacket inside or have a space heater under your desk. Anyway, that led to my quest for the best pants to wear to work ~fancier~ than jeans.  My go to style is a skinny fit and ankle length (practically full length for someone 5’2). I used to wear tighter pants that resembled leggings, but for the more professional look the “pixie style” is just as flattering, still tight, but more tailored.

Pictured in the photoshoot are the same Banana Republic Sloan Pants above – one a solid black and the other a textured blue. They can easily be dressed up with a tailored blouse or dressed down with a casual long sleeve. They work for both more professional and more casual outfits – and the comfort level is top notch. Read more on why I love the Sloan Pants below and the other work pant recommendations below!

Banana Republic Sloan Pant

Banana Republic Sloan Pant are my #1 go to for quality, comfort, and fit. Mid-rise skinny, and ankle length – they check all my boxes. In addition, they are soft, have stretch, but stay structured the whole day. They don’t wrinkle and are easy to travel with. They make these in so many prints and solids each season. It’s best to buy them when Banana Republic is running a 40% off sale, which they are right now using code BRGET40. It’s a great time to get the basics like black, navy, and a deeper colored neutral like maroon. Shop my color and pattern picks below.

Old Navy Pixie Pants

For the most affordable pair of work pants, I can’t pass up the deal at Old Navy for Pixie Pants. They come in both ankle and full length, they offer the same stretch as the Banana Republic pants. They fit a little tighter, and I bit more “legging” like, but still look like pants and have pockets in the back and front. If you want a fun color or bold pattern, try it out on the more affordable pair that you may wear less often!

Anthropologie Cartonnier Charlie Trouser

This list isn’t complete without mentioning the Cartonnier Charlie Trouser only sold at Anthropologie. They come in more unique prints and textures that you can’t find at Old Navy, Banana Republic, JCrew, etc. They are a similar ankle pant style, that are tight but not too tight, and mid-rise. Unfortunately, it’s not guaranteed to find them in stock year round like you can at the other stores mentioned. They usually launch seasonally, with textured and velvet printed pants in the winter and summer florals in the spring. Right now, they don’t have any in stock, but there are tons of gently used pairs on Poshmark if you Google it! I’ll be sure to mention on Instagram when they become available this winter.
