Nashville, it’s here – the grand opening of the newest speakeasy on the
block in Germantown, opens tonight, Sept 7th, 2018. Filled with 90s era vibes, hand-crafted cocktails, and delicious
sammies – you’ll find this fenced in outdoor speakeasy concept on an inconspicuous
block off Buchanan. With a knock on the door
or a ring of the phone, you’ll be greeted to enter one party at a time.
Enter Minerva Avenue, and you’ll be pleasantly surprised to
have a large, outdoor patio space for a bar known as a speakeasy. There’s cabanas,
high top tables, and a full bar outside with plenty of space to mingle. There’s
also an indoor bar area, but I definitely prefer the atmosphere of an outdoor
patio!
Here come the subtle plays on the 90s. The menus on each
table are VHS tapes! Each drink name is carefully thought out to represent a
90s film, with “To Infinity and Beyond” (Toy Story…do I even have to say that?)
and She’s your Queen to Be (Coming to America).
They aren’t just regular drinks either – To Infinity and Beyond is a gin blended with honey, vanilla and lemon. Coming to America’s concoction is rum, strawberry and lime, topped with a
dusting of black pepper.
Normally bar food is fried, and nothing in the sphere of homemade or healthy. Chef Batt’s whips up multiple sandwiches – from turkey melts to avocado tomato veggie
sammies, there’s one to please even the pickiest of eaters. Ice cream sammies with fresh
chocolate chip cookies will also be available for that sweet tooth craving!
It’s not just the atmosphere, food, and drinks that make
Minerva Avenue exciting – it’s the story behind it. The bar is named after the street
the owner, Robert Higgins Jr. grew up on, and this project is dedicated to his
parents that raised him and his siblings in the house on Minerva Avenue.
