There’s
nothing better than a soft plaid flannel. My closet is full of them – which is
why I try to wear them more than just the winter. You can still wear them in
the summer, even when it’s too hot to wear long sleeves!
An
easy solution for wearing flannel in the warmer months is using it as an
accessory. Wear jean shorts or a skirt, a tight fitting tank top, and then
simply tie the flannel around your waist. All three looks are shown below!
The
best part about this is you have a jacket if it gets chilly. It’s perfect to
throw on over a tank after the sun goes down or the AC is too cold. This is an
ideal outfit wearing to an outdoor event or festival, with a pair of low cut ankle booties (like these Jeffrey Campbell’s).
My favorite flannel brand is hands down Rails. They are SO soft, not a hint of itch in them. The cut isn’t boxy either, I wear an XS.
For more budget friendly options J.Crew Factory is great! They are always having sales, tons of patterns, and a soft material. Old Navy has also stepped their game up – I can’t wait to see what prints and colors come out for fall.
