Two Piece Sets: 3 in 1 Outfits

How to style a set
multiple ways + affordable lemon print for summer

I’ve
been loving matching sets over the past few years, and this year’s “it set” are
culottes & a crop top. Culottes?
Yes, those are those high-waisted wide leg pants that comfortable, flowy, and
flattering! Lemon and citrus prints started trending with the original For Love
& Lemons lemon printed sets & dresses.

For outfits like these that are
trendier, I like to shop around for a more inexpensive option. You’ll see that
pattern frequently on the blog – recommendations for splurging on the timeless pieces
and saving on the fads. With this lemon
set, it’s only $35 total!! You can also buy them separately at $12 for the top
& $22 for the pants, in case you’re not a fan of wearing both together.I’ve
styled it three ways below, and where to wear each look.

Look 1: The Set

For a cheerful, summer
day party!

Obviously,
look one is the set paired together. The pants are high waisted enough to cover
your mid-drift section. I love the ruffle detail on the top and how it hits
perfectly with the top of the pants. I’m 5’2 (okay mayyyybe 5’3 but I don’t
like odd numbers) so if you’re taller it might be more of a crop top fit on
you.

: Date Night, Girls, Night, Summer Concert, Summer Day Party, Weekend Wear

Look 2: Lemon Pants + Solid
Tank

For a casual weekday date
night or transition from work to happy hour!

Pair
the pants with a separate top! No need to buy something new to match, I’m sure
you have a simple black tee or tank top hanging in your closet already. I chose
more of a tight fitting black cap sleeve top to highlight my waist. It’s a
staple piece from BCBG Max Azria I’ve had for years. The material is stretchy,
and hugs your body perfectly.

There
are so many choices for tops you can pair with these pants – another look for a
cooler night is pairing with chambray shirt. I have close to 10 chambray
shirts, and this Joie one is hands down my favorite. It’s the softest, most
comfortable version and the buttons are placed perfectly into a v-neck shape.
There are no clunky pockets, and it’s the perfect medium denim shade. I tied it
at the waist, but you can also tuck it in for more of a polished look.

Look 3: Lemon Crop Top +
High Waisted Jean Shorts

For a more casual summery
day look!

Too
hot for pants during the day? Ditch ‘em for jean shorts! I recommend high
waisted since it’s a crop top. These Articles of Society distressed jean shorts
I’ve been wearing on repeat this summer hit perfectly with the ruffles on the
bottom of the top. A darker pair of jean shorts would also compliment well!

Wear for: Casual Day
Look, Weekend Wear, Summer Day Activity

Sizing Info

Wide-Leg Lemon Pants: I’m normally a 25 or 26, and the wide
leg pants reviews said they ran a little small. Being conservative, I ordered a
M. They were a little big (I had to take in the waist) so a small would have
fit better.

Lemon Print Top: Reviews stated it ran small, the M
fit me perfectly!

Joie Chambray Top: Would have preferred the XS for
slimness in the body, but I have broader shoulders so I went with the S for arm
movement and comfort.

BCBG Max Azria Black Top: only two sizes available – XS/S or
M/L. Wearing an XS/S

Articles of Society Jean
Shorts:
Fit
TTS – wearing a 26. I don’t like jean shorts super tight, and they probably
would have fit in a 25 but I prefer the looser fit!
